ABOUT THIS SUPPORT GROUP:

This support group is a compassionate space for individuals who are actively caregiving for a loved one facing a degenerative illness, terminal diagnosis or age-related decline. Studies show that caregivers of those with progressive illnesses are at higher risk for depression, burnout and complicated grief. These caregivers often carry the dual weight of daily responsibilities and the emotional pain of witnessing a slow goodbye, grieving not just the anticipated loss, but also the gradual changes in their loved one’s personality, abilities and connection. Pre-bereavement grief is common in these situations, yet frequently overlooked and unspoken. This group aims to support those in our community who feel overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, isolated and unsure how to process the complex mix of love, loss, duty and sadness they are living with each day.

BENEFITS OF THIS SUPPORT GROUP:

  • A compassionate and judgement-free space for support and guidance on navigating pre-bereavement grief and its complex emotions, while actively caregiving.
  • Practical tips and coping strategies for maintaining emotional boundaries, managing overwhelm, preventing burnout, and preserving your own wellbeing.
  • Connection with others who truly truly understand, thus reducing the isolation many caregivers feel, and creating a sense of community through shared experiences and mutual support.
