What is it?

Coaching is a powerful interactive process that aids individuals to develop personally and professionally. Coaching works on the premise that the individual is whole/complete, creative, and resourceful and the coach is there to provide support and encouragement while accessing skills, resources and creativity that the already exist within the individual. 

During the process of coaching, the coach explores the present state of the person, identifies the desired goal/outcome, and add the appropriate resources (that exist within the individual) to produce the desired outcome. While the coach provides feedback and objective perspective, however the individual is held accountable for taking the steps towards the desired outcome. As such, coaching focuses on where you are, to take you to where you want to be. 

Both coaching and therapy are similar as they are based on an ongoing, confidential, and one-to-one professional relationship to aid positive change in navigating life’s challenges; however, coaching is radically different in the context of the relationship, content of the sessions and condition of the client. It assumes the person is capable and can be held accountable – and for those asking ‘how’ questions, seeking motivation and eager to achieve higher level of function in any area of their lives. It is present-focused and facilitates the client to achieve their desired future and dreams by eliciting values, goal-setting and strategic planning.
