Our May SEN event topic for the teaching community at The LightHouse Arabia will be: The Gifted Child. This is a free-of-cost event open to the teaching community.

Giftedness is an often under-recognized and under-diagnosed neuro-diverse condition in children and young persons. Gifted children refers to those who have exceptional abilities, talents, or potential in one or more areas, including academic, artistic, musical, or physical areas. These children tend to have advanced cognitive and intellectual abilities, learn at a faster pace, and possess a high level of curiosity and creativity. An important task for educators is to recognize and understand gifted children so that they can meet the unique needs for neuro-diverse learners.

Educators attending this in-person event will learn:

  • Giftedness as a neuro-diverse condition
  • The strengths and learning needs of gifted individuals
  • How to identify giftedness in school-aged children
  • The process of diagnosing a child as being gifted
  • Clinically effective strategies and accommodations to support gifted students
