The only reality I can possibly know is the world as I perceive it at this moment. The only reality you can possibly know is the world as you see it at this moment. And the only certainty is that those perceived realities are different. There are as many “real worlds” as there are people. - Carl Rogers

I was born and raised in Abu Dhabi, UAE and am Emirati. Having lived, studied and worked in multiple countries around the world, I consider myself privileged to have been exposed to  many different cultures that have contributed to my personal and professional growth and development.

I have always been fascinated by humans and their minds; how each one can experience, perceive and react to life’s circumstances in different ways. For me, the field of psychology is an incredible learning wonderland of the human mind, while presenting an opportunity to help people reach the best version of themselves with empathy, acceptance, compassion and hope.

I completed both my BSc in Psychology at Swinburne University of Technology and MSc in Counselling at The University of Melbourne, Australia. While living there, I trained as a Clinical Social Worker at multiple health related settings including St. Vincent’s Hospital and covered a wide range of units including Palliative care, Hospice care, Cancer, Geriatrics and Acute cases. I also trained at The Melbourne clinic, an addiction centre for inpatients, outreach programs and day programs. Part of my training in Melbourne also included working with indigenous communities and aboriginal people; which was a valuable experience to me and expanded my empathy and understanding.

When I returned to the UAE, I worked in Mafraq hospital and SSMC, Abu Dhabi, where I was a lead Clinical Social Worker providing a wide range of services to inpatients whilst admitted and liaising between different specialties internally as well as connecting to external services that may help in the recovery and discharge of the patient. In addition to providing counselling for the patient and their families. I also worked in Dubai Community Authority (CDA) for a special program called TAMKEEN to empower UAE nationals and provide counselling to help them with their life challenges.

My current role as an Assistant Psychologist The LightHouse Arabia enables me to combine my experience and passion to help others along their wellbeing journey through early screening and assessment, to match them with the most suitable services and clinicians.
