Preetha Madhavan , MPsych (Australia)
Clinical Psychologist
Raised in the Middle East, I relate to the experience of being an expatriate while also having a deep appreciation for the local culture and norms. This allows me to work in a culturally sensitive and responsive manner, whilst maintaining curiosity for an individual’s ecosystem and an appreciation for each client’s diversity.
I uphold that no single therapeutic approach is right for every individual. I am trained in a range of evidence-based psychological interventions, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy, mindfulness-based approaches and most recently EMDR, a notable brain based therapy which enable me to practice as a compassionate and empathetic psychologist tailoring my care accordingly for clients across the lifespan.
In addition to my therapeutic work with children, adolescents and adults , I have extensive training and experience in psychoeducational assessments and evaluations, particularly with children and adolescents. I am a trained and certified ADOS-2 provider and conduct comprehensive assessments for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, learning difficulties (including difficulties with reading, writing and mathematics), and adaptive behaviour functioning.
I have over 14 years of experience working across educational and clinical settings in Australia and Oman, prior to moving to the UAE.
