MINA SHAFIK, M.A. (US)

Psychologist

“We all have the power to overcome our challenges. I am here to empower and support you. I believe in the power of communication and freedom to talk. So please know that you are always welcome to come and talk”

I believe that every person is vulnerable to make mistakes, or be in difficult conditions. That’s why I do not judge, nor discriminate towards anyone because I believe that everyone has his/her own side of the story. That is what made me passionate about psychology, because it taught me how to look at situations from different angles, and conditioned me to understand people’s actions rather than to judge them..

I completed both my undergraduate and graduate degrees from USA. I acquired my Bachelors of Science in psychology from Grand Valley State University; and my Masters in Clinical Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology.  I am a registered member in both the American Psychological Association (APA) and The British Psychological Society (BPS). I can speak Arabic, English, French, and Spanish. I lived in Egypt, UAE, USA, and England; thus, my training and education over the years are diverse and multicultural in terms of interpretation and analysis.

One of my passions in the field of psychology is psychometrics. Psychometrics are the science of measuring of mental capacities and processes. More specifically, it is the first step of the intervention process before beginning treatment. I conduct full psychological tests for individuals varying in ages (7-50) and mental illnesses (depression, anxiety, schizoaffective disorder, schizophrenia). Psychometrics helps us identify the person’s strengths and weaknesses to effect positive change in the most efficient way.
