DR. REBECCA STEINGIESSER, DPsych (AUS)

Clinical Psychologist

“I believe children are our future. I am passionate about supporting children and adolescents to achieve their true potential, to lead well-rounded, fulfilling childhoods, irrespective of their difficulties.”

I am a Clinical Neuropsychologist and Clinical Psychologist. I completed my dual doctoral training in Clinical Neuropsychology and Clinical Psychology at the University of Western Australia. My clinical experience spans both private and Public health settings in Australia and the UAE.

My clinical specialty is neuropsychology – I work with children adolescents and adults with neurological, cognitive and developmental challenges. As a Clinical Psychologist, I also have extensive experience in providing clinical therapy to children, adolescents and young adults to address a broad spectrum of mental health, family and psycho-social concerns. In addition, I offer parenting support and work closely with the parents and families of all my clients as I believe establishing shared goals is imperative to achieving desired therapeutic outcomes and improving academic, social, emotional and behavioural functioning as well as general wellbeing.

I utilise a primarily Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approach in my work but also employ play therapy principles as well as Mindfulness based approaches in therapy. I value the use of individually tailored approaches to therapy and always take into consideration the clients family, religious, cultural and personal circumstances. I believe that listening is one of the most important attributes of a skilled clinician and so aim to primarily provide a supportive space for people to feel heard and understood

Further to my individual clinical work, I work closely with schools as well as other organisations with my focus being on educating others about neuropsychology and sharing my knowledge and expertise in the field with other medical and allied health professionals. I am passionate about increasing awareness about neuropsychology as a specialist field of psychology in the UAE.
