Joint Lead, Eating Disorder Service
As a systemically trained Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist, with specialist experience in Eating Disorders, my passion lies in working with individuals, their families and networks, to improve psychological, physical and social wellbeing. I believe all young people should have access to treatment early and close to their homes, to achieve the best outcomes.
I have extensive experience managing depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder and neurodevelopmental disorders in children and young people.
I obtained my Medical degree in the UK, and then went on to complete my Core Psychiatry & Specialist Child and Adolescent training at the renowned Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust. My training and clinical experiences have enabled me to adopt a psychiatric, psychodynamic and systemic approach to the assessment and management of patients.
Working as a Child Psychiatrist in a multidisciplinary Eating Disorder Service within a prestigious hospital in London (UK), involved providing outpatient care, paediatric and psychiatric inpatient support, as well as working with day patients requiring intensive eating disorder treatment. I have also worked as the Joint Lead in the Eating Disorder service at Maudsley Health, Abu Dhabi (2020-2021) and so have an appreciation for mental health difficulties in the UAE and cultural differences.
In my spare time, I have conducted programmes within my community and in orphanages abroad, teaching Mental Health First Aid, raising mental health awareness and tackling stigma. Having worked in Abu Dhabi for one year, I am looking forward to bringing my clinical experience, knowledge and passion for treating childhood mental illness and Eating Disorders to Dubai. In particular, I am excited to be co-developing a Specialist Eating Disorder service, such that patients no longer need to travel away from home for their treatment.
