DR. SALMAN WAHID

Adult Psychiatrist, Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist

“My true passion is to engage my clients on a journey of understanding the connection between mind and the body leading to everlasting emotional wellbeing”.

In my adult psychiatry practice, I have run specialized clinic including Clozaril clinic for patients with schizophrenia, mood disorder clinic for bipolar disorder, and have helped numerous patients suffering from various other ailments including anxiety disorders, depression, eating disorders, drugs and alcohol abuse, and grief counselling to name a few. I have also served the older adult population in nursing homes, treating late onset depression, anxiety disorders and dementia

I have always been fascinated by the intricacies of a child’s mind and how it shapes every child individually.  My journey to becoming a psychiatrist and then to practice child psychiatry has been driven by this fascination. I have been engaged in providing care to the children and adolescents since my graduation from the residency program at St Elizabeths Hospital in Washington DC.

The past 12 years have provided me with the wisdom, clinical acumen and the expertise in treating young clients, both using medications and psychotherapy techniques.  I am a strong advocate for clients as well as their families to get the right support for them by working with private and government agencies and institutions.

I am US board certified in psychiatry and have worked in inpatient, outpatient and day programs for kids and adults throughout my career. I have also been involved in teaching medical students and young colleagues through various institutions in USA and Canada.

I am fully committed in providing the best care to my clients with respect, passion, compassion, integrity, honesty, dedication, empathy and will always uphold the highest ethical, moral, and professional values, which are essential to my profession.
