Assessments
We use a variety of standardized psychological tests to answer the referral questions for adults and children.

A licensed and qualified doctorate level educational psychologist in Dubai will assess, score, interpret and give feedback and recommendations. We assess for IQ, cognitive abilities, mental retardation, memory, academic difficulties, giftedness, behavioral difficulties, childhood disorders, pervasive developmental disorders, personality, learning difficulties and recruitment.

We also assess typical children who are functioning within the normal range whose parents would like to know about their psychological profile. The standard assessment will give you a deeper understanding of your child’s cognitive, academics, behavior, personality, and social strengths and weaknesses.

Why should I get a psychoeducational assessment done?
A good psycho-educational assessment should help you understand your child's educational and developmental profile. If you have questions about your child learning style, or if your child is having behavioral, social, or learning difficulties, a psycho-educational assessment will help you get a picture of their strengths and weaknesses. The report will better equip you to know your child's unique profile and will allow you to support your child in the way that he/she needs. You may also wish to know if your child is gifted and perhaps is not being challenged enough at the school he/she is attending. An assessment can answer these questions.

Who typically refers the child for an assessment and why?
Often times school teachers or counselors will refer a child for an assessment to figure out how they can best support the child in the academic environment. They may have questions about the child's cognitive, academic, or behavioral functioning, so they refer the family to a psychologist. As a parent, you may have questions about your child's functioning and you may call our educational psychologist in Dubai directly to get a better understanding of your child's psycho-educational profile.

Does my child need to have an academic or behavioral problem for them to get an assessment?
A child does not need to have any behavior problems or learning difficulties for you to want to get him/her assessed. A psycho-educational assessment is a wonderful tool in learning about your child's strengths and weaknesses so you can help them thrive.

Who conducts the assessment?
A licensed, doctoral level educational psychologist in Dubai will conduct the assessment, write the psychoeducational report, and give the feedback and recommendations.

What is the process of the psycho-educational assessment?
The process for the psycho-educational assessment includes a diagnostic intake, parent and teacher forms, an in school observation, in clinic assessment, and feedback. This is usually done over a course of a couple of weeks.
  1. The diagnostic intake in 1-hr at the clinic where one or both parents are present to go over the history and presentation of the social, behavioral, or learning difficulties. The child should not be present at this appointment. At the end of this hour, the psychologist will give the parents forms to fill out for themselves and the school teacher/s.
  2. The parents may also sign a consent form at the clinic and at the school to release information and sign a form at the school to allow the psychologist to observe the child in the class for 20-30 minute duration. The psychologist will also speak to the teacher at this time to gather data.
  3. Then an appointment will be scheduled for the assessment. The assessment is usually conducted in the clinic over a course of 2-3 days. The assessment includes cognitive, achievement, and behavioral measures to assess for learning disorders, behavioral disorders, and other childhood disorders.
  4. Once all the data is collected, the psychologist then scores, interprets and writes a psycho-educational report. Approximately 7-10 days after the data has been collected our educational psychologist will schedule a feedback appointment to go over the results and recommendations.
